On March 25th, The Butcher & Bullock (the pub formerly known as Smiley’s) hosted their monthly Beer Drinker’s Dinner. The four course dinner was paired with Nanaimo’s Wolf Brewing and it was quite the meal!
The menu is posted below. My favourite course, created by Chef Alvin, was the Ale Braised Lamb Shank paired nicely with Wolf’s Scotch Ale. I wish I took photos of the plates but they were so good that they were gone before I could get around to it!
It was especially nice to have the Head Brewmaster of Wolf, Mike Pizzitelli, along with Chef Alvin at the event to describe the nuances of each beer and course of the meal – We had Wolf’s IPA, Scotch Ale and Porter, all of which I enjoyed greatly and would recommend to anyone, they are very drinkable and are great examples of proper brewing.
